Using E-mail to Communicate with your Health Care Provider

Conclusion & Links

While use of the telephone was adopted rather quickly by physicians and patients alike upon its introduction, the use of electronic communication via E-mail has been much more slowly adopted. There are likely many reasons for this including the possibilities that the telephone is sufficient and that the internet is not important enough to patient care to necessitate its incorporation into daily medical practice. However, with the use of the internet and E-mail increasing, using E-mail will undoubtedly become a more routine mode of physician-provider communication in the coming years.
